Dual link DVI adapters incompatible with Apple

apple-dual-link-dvi-display-adapter1Are you one of those experiencing distortion problems on your screen with your Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter? We’ve got some bad news for you. Apparently Apple’s engineering team has been telling customers that its only compatible with their Apple Cinema Display.

Techcrunch reports the following:

Reader Yoel reports that AppleCare has contacted him to say Engineering retroactively decided the adapters are ONLY compatible with the 30-inch Apple Cinema Display, and not with any other 30-inch displays on the market now. They are, you know, “technically” compatible, except for the distortion issues we outlined here.

Its quite interesting to see how a company can withdraw support for a product that they have previously launch. Didn’t think that Apple would fall in this category!
