Nintendo DSi is coming to town!

Submitted by newgadgetsguru on January 15, 2009 – 10:18 pm2 Comments

nintendo-dsiNo that’s not a new Christmas carol! Rumors are rife on the blogosphere about the Nintendo DSi hitting the stores in the US sometime in April. This handheld game console from Nintendo has already been launched in Japan on November 1st, 2008 but hasn’t been officially launched in the US. But we have seen many of the units hacked and it was time that Nintendo did an official launch.

It is widely speculated that the Nintendo DSi will be retailing for about $180 (some report it to be $179.99 which I find too absurd to believe). Is this a good price point? Well considering the fact that the Nintendo Wii sells for $250, I really don’t see the logic in a $180 price tag for this handheld. With such a sagging economy for company, Nintendo will be better off selling it at under $100. What do you think?

Seeing as the Nintendo DS Lite still sells in the U.S. for $129.99, I don’t think that the Nintendo DSi will drop much lower than $200.00. Though I have to agree that with the Wii console at a steady $250.00, the handhelds should either be dropped or the price of the Wii increased to the original price of $450.00, because believe it or not, people will still pay such an amount for a console with the attributes that only the Wii has available. Unfortunately for other gamers out there, I am pre-ordering my console before the worldwide release to ensure that i will not have to endure the post-release rush for the console. (P.S. If Nintendo has any sense whatsoever they will postpone the release until sometime around the holidays… Just an opinion.)
