Nokia pulls the plug on the WiMax tablet

nokia-n810-wimax-editionIt wasn’t too long ago when Nokia released the Nokia N810 Wimax Edition. It certainly seemed like an exciting product at that time and was the first in the market too. It was to be offered by Sprint in the US. But Nokia has recently announced that it will be discontinuing this product.

Nokia did not give any details to why this product will be discontinued. But one can guess that the product wasn’t too successful and did not meet forecasts. With Wimax touted to be the next big thing after WiFi, this will be a big blow to the technology itself. Wimax definitely needs to mature as a technology and needs to be available more widely before such gadgets are embraced by the consumers.
