These lawsuits could hurt Apple and AT&T!

Submitted by newgadgetsguru on February 6, 2009 – 9:40 pmOne Comment

iphone3gunlockVarious lawsuits have been filed in the last two weeks in Florida, New Jersey, and Texas claiming that the iPhone 3G actually does not receive 3G signals well enough. The 3G connectivity issue is something that has been going around for a while and this is the first time that a law suit has been filed against Apple and AT&T. The lawsuits claim that both Apple and AT&T knew of this shortcoming but did not provide adequate information to customers.

Another lawsuit that has been brought up is regarding the durability of the iPhone 3G. Apparently the casing around the camera is prone to cracks and this is something that Apple knew about too. The actions are seeking an injunction preventing the companies from spreading “false” advertising and punitive damages.

According to informationweek:

All four complaints cite a report from the Swedish engineering publication Ny Teknik, which said Apple’s handsets aren’t sensitive enough to adequately receive the 3G signal. Some of the complaints also bolster their claims with the U.K. Advertising Standards Authority’s decision to ban multiple iPhone ads because of their claims that the device can access the entire Internet.

It would definitely be interesting to see how Apple reacts to these lawsuits.

I get so sick of hearing of people suing people over such stupid things, but that’s America! There is a book that the US Government puts out called “The Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance” It list all the money that is available from the government by way of grants and it gives suggestions on ways to earn money in America. I almost fell out of my chair when I saw that they suggested that law suits were business opportunities. Only in America!
