World’s first $2000 car to hit Indian roads soon
Much has been said about Tata Motors’ Nano that we all thought that this was not even possible. After all, how can we even visualize buying a car for the prize of a Macbook Air? But Tata has confirmed that the Nano will hit Indian roads in July. With demand expected to be much more than supply, they have even mentioned that their first 100,000 customers will be picked at random!
According to Reuters:
Hundreds of thousands are expected to put their name down for a Nano, including many previously limited to motorbikes or public transport, following Monday’s formal launch.
Apparently Tata is also looking at European and American variants and might actually be successful in this economical climate. Of course we believe the price might not be the same as the safety standards which are to be met will be much more stringent which would mean that Tata will have to incur more cost.
Certainly a move in the right direction. Apparently competition is not far off and both Volkswagen and Renault are reported to be working on such models too! It’s just a matter of time before everyone owns a car!
